Good Striped Bass Fishing Rod?

by Stu

I was wondering if a 6'6 St Croix Premier Caster MHF would be a good rod to use for freshwater hybrid striper fishing off a 16 ft boat. I'm an avid musky fisherman and just got into stripers and have been trying to get outfitted properly. Any suggestions would be helpful...

Re: St Croix for Striped Bass

Yes, that fishing rod should do. If it's been able to hold up for your muskies, it should be able to handle those striped bass.

You'll find that most of your musky tackle will work just as well for stripers too.

Hope this helps. Good luck fishing.

I use a St Croix premiere musky 6'6 mh. It's a lot heavier than the St Croix 6'6 premiere caster mhf, line weight 10-20. Have had some advice to go to a 7 ft mhf? Don't really see the difference.
